About Us
We are a not-for-profits, community driven sports, social & events venue, open to everyone 7 days a week.
Membership is not compulsory but carries many benefits and offers reduced prices on everything.
Several sporting sections use Ossett C&AC as their HQ and we boast enviable facilities that are constantly being updated and improved.
Although we are sport based, our venue hosts hundreds of functions every year, from 1:1 meetings to huge celebrations catering for up to 150 people at all kinds of events: Weddings, wakes, birthdays, christenings, anniversaries, office parties… anything!
We are guided by an age-old sporting constitution that governs all matters within the club. A small group of elected officials (all of whom are volunteers) carry the burden of decision making solely in the best interests of the Ossett sporting community, just like their predecessors did for decades.
Sustainability is key and maximising the huge potential our bar area has to offer brings much needed funds in to the club, enabling our finance committee to distribute any profits back in to the sporting sections to help them continue to thrive. These funds are essential for sport to flourish in Ossett.
We are always looking for new members and new sporting sections to enjoy the support and extensive benefits we have to offer.

For over 150 years...
The origins of Ossett Cricket & Athletic Club date back to 1868 when an area of land at Dimple Wells was left in trust solely for the purpose of sporting activities. For many years Ossett Cricket Club was the only occupier of the site which boasted an excellent ground and adjoining cricket pavilion.
We are immensely proud of our heritage. Our club has survived world wars, global pandemics and economic crashes yet we’re still standing… due in the main to selfless volunteers and the great people of Ossett. With such a fabulous history we are remembered for many things, not least the wonderful view across the Calder Valley towards Thornhill and Middlestown. This panoramic vista remains unobscured to this day and leaves its mark on the memory of all our visitors, new and old.
Over the years, our official name changed to Ossett Cricket & Athletic Club to acknowledge several new sporting sections that took up residence on our site and as time has passed, our facilities have improved dramatically to house (alongside the substantial cricket field) a floodlit artificial turf area, a full sized football field with changing and bar facilities, a full size bowling green adjacent to the main club house, parking for hundreds of vehicles and extensive outbuildings to accommodate changing facilities and social gatherings.
Cricket has always been the stalwart discipline but Ossett Bowls Club forms a huge part of our heritage. We now have more than 30 teams competing in various leagues throughout the summer months and host hundreds of games every year on our very own manicured bowling green.
In the mid 1950’s Ossett Albion Football Club joined us and developed their own ground within our confines. Ossett Albion Junior Football club (formerly Ossett Trinitarians Boys Club) also enjoy our extensive facilities and they operate over 20 teams locally for kids of all ages – boys and girls. They train on our floodlit astro turf area that measures 65 x 35 metres and it is available for hire.
Ossett Rugby Union Football Club base their headquarters with us and they recently enjoyed their 40th anniversary celebrations. Testament to their reputation, our main club sponsor Ossett Brewery created a beer specially to commemorate their anniversary and it depicts not only the rugby sections ethos, but that of the wider club too – #oneclub.
We’re also proud to be associated with Ossett Rounders Club who play regularly on our cricket outfield.
Ossett Cricket & Athletic Club Snooker section competes on our two snooker tables every week and we also host a Golf Society that have enjoyed some memorable golf trips over the years.
We are a not-for-profits community club. We reinvest any surplus in our associated sporting sections and in our facilities. We are self sustaining in the hope that we can continue to provide a great facility for the Ossett community for, well who knows how long? At least another 150 years… and beyond!
